The submarine went missing in the deep sea 60 miles off the island of Bali. Six warships and helicopters are being used to search for him, and 400 people are involved. The Indonesian navy says the missing submarine, with 53 crew members on board, has only 72 hours of oxygen left.

Singapore and Malaysia have also sent ships in search of the submarine, and the United States, Australia, France and Germany have also offered help and cooperation.

Authorities in Indonesia say the search for the missing submarine has begun immediately.

The submarine was conducting combat exercises north of the island of Bali, but submarine crews did not contact to determine the outcome.
