The dead body of a four-year-old girl was found in a nullah [sewer] in the Khattak Society area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Kohat region, police officials said on Thursday.
The girl went disappeared a day before and a first information report (FIR) was filed in link with her disappearance on the complaint of her grandfather, police told. Relatives of the girl and policemen investigated for her through the darkness, they combined.
On Thursday, her dead body was found in a sewer in the district. It was recovered and referred to the KDA divisional headquarters hospital.
Police spokespersons said that a case was registered in link with the killing and an inquiry was underway.
In The Meantime, the victim’s family and locals of the area organized a protest on University Road, Kohat, insisting that they be furnished justice. The family of the four-year-old alleged that she had been sexually assaulted.
On the other hand, police officials told while they believed the minor girl was assaulted, it had not yet been verified through a medical report.
District Police Officer (DPO) Sohail Khalid validated to media that police had not yet obtained the medical report. The report would explain whether the girl had been assaulted or not, he added.
Khalid said that “lots of suspects have been taken into detention and their samples forwarded for DNA testing.”
Last year, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded 182 cases of child sexual abuse throughout the first eight months, agreeing to police data. Four of those cases were linked to homicide after assault.
The four cases of murder after assault were stated in Mardan, Nowshera, Mansehra, and Kohat.
